ABOUT

My name is Manon Chirgwin and I’m a second year PhD student looking at the age of criminal responsibility. Whilst researching I have also helped to organise a postgraduate law conference. During the preparations for the conference I noticed two things; firstly that the only way to find other conferences was to wade through page after page of Google results only to find that I had already missed the conference that was of most interest to me! Secondly, as a postgraduate law conference trying to advertise and connect with law graduates who may want to attend is very difficult.

I decided this should change, and I was going to try and start that change.

This website aims to bring together all the law events/interdisciplinary events (conferences, seminars etc) happening in the UK and Ireland into one comprehensive list, and utilise social media under the Law Conference Directory name to retweet and share posts sent out by conference organisers to increase their reach and hopefully this way we will be able to attend conferences that we may otherwise have missed.

As this website grows it will reduce the problems I mentioned.
• Postgraduate students will be able to find all the conferences they need on one website. This is important because whilst researching is our aim in life and the skill we’re developing, being able to find like minded people to share our ideas with shouldn’t be a major task.
• Every conference in the UK will be able to reach all researchers through our website and social media, but more importantly so will the postgraduate law conferences and new conferences that are just starting. I feel this is important because it’s hard to make yourself heard in the buzz of the internet but new and interesting conferences are important and should be helped to flourish.

I hope you find this website useful and will help it grow to reach these aims by letting me know about any conferences that aren’t listed.
